"To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted."—Bill Bryson
Just as I was starting to feel ready to head back to the United States and move on to a new adventure, life has been throwing me some curve balls; as each day seems to be getting more exciting and fun. I never anticipated that would continue to happen 11 months in. The past few weeks have been a blast. I haven't been traveling to new places in Korea, and I haven't been getting caught in tourist traps. Basically- I haven't been doing anything extraordinary, exciting, or all that new. I have just been living- like everyone else- but it has been so much fun. I have been making a point to be as social as possible; dinners and noraebong with co-workers during the week, nights out in Seoul (literally staying out all night with friends), favorite meals, and making a point to reconnect with people I haven't seen for awhile. Although it may not be that exciting for anyone else, it has been a dream come true for me. I can't imagine what it will be like to leave this place.
This week two new co-workers joined our team, and tomorrow I will have to say good-bye to two GREAT friends (and co-workers) that I have worked with since I got to Korea. It will be a very difficult good-bye, but the hopefully the change will keep things exciting in the office.
On Saturday, I will be heading to Vietnam for a week with two girl friends. I am excited to leave, because I know I will be coming back! I may not feel the same when I am leaving for good. I hope to come back with stories to tell, pictures to share, and a nice golden tan!:)
Cross your fingers that we don't have any problems with the typhoon going through Asia right now...
